šŸ’° $5K Weekend Profit

anyone can do this

I’m a sucker for a good business idea. And a good business success story.

But what I really like are ideas that anyone can do.

Sure, things like Christmas light installation businesses are awesome but not everyone is able to go up ladders and do that work.

But hey, kudos to people who can cause that is a really awesome business.

Easy Mode?

White labeling products is something I always find interesting.

A few months ago I was talking to someone who does a version of this…but only sort of. And she makes $5,000 in a WEEKEND doing it.

Here’s the short version of the business -

Found a regional small brand that produces a line of salsas. The salsa jars sell for around $5.00 each.

Super small local business with no real distribution.

She rents a Uhaul and gets cases of the salsa at retail price (the $5.00) and goes to weekend festivals in the spring, summer, and fall.

Festivals like art festivals.

Pays for a booth and sells the salsa as-labeled for $10 a jar. Not counting the cost of the booth + getting to the event/hotel + the open jars used for samples + the salsa chips bought for samples, that’s $5 gross on each jar of salsa.

Festivals are typically a Friday-Sunday thing. Usually two hotel nights cause she only goes to events where she can make it back home on Sunday night.

Profit, yes profit, is averaging $5,000 per weekend. How insane is that.

Simple math says she’s moving over 1,000 jars of salsa a weekend.

This blows my mind. Especially since it’s not good salsa.

And no one has created a fucking website! Not the salsa brand. Not her. No one.

If people want to pay $10/jar for shitty salsa, then I think I’d setup a Shopify site to sell them more when they run out. I think you could offer free shipping and have more profit per-jar than with all the festival expenses.

Of course, the ingredients are on the jar so you could also have higher profits by making your own ā€œbrandā€ of the salsa. Granted, you’d need to be in a state with cottage laws that allow this (not sure about countries outside the USA) otherwise you need access to a commercial kitchen and such.

Sometimes I think about her $5K weekends and wonder wtf I’m doing with my life.
