chatGPT to Amazon Fiction Book Is A Full First Draft!

I’ve already told you that my chosen genre is Horror for this little experiment.

And I’m focusing a short story, or short read, title instead of a full fiction book.

So, I used chatGPT Plus to get my outline for the story and then I took that outline to write the book.

My prompt start was essentially “You are AuthorGPT and you are a popular and successful horror author. And I need your help coming up with a new horror book. Please give me some ideas similar to something that Stephen King would write so that I can select one.”

Then, I selected one and continued my prompts, “AuthorGPT, let’s work on creating an outline for [my selected idea] keeping in mind that the structure of the horror book should be similar to something that Stephen King would write.”

After that, I continued on writing the book chapter by chapter.

At the end of almost three hours, I ended up with a Prologue, 14 chapter, and an Epilogue.

Total word count of this first draft? 13,118 words

More words than I expected. Best part? It meets the qualifications for a novella.

But I still need to read through it and see what edits need to be made. (Keep in mind that I’m not a fiction writer, so this is new for me.)

Overall though, I feel like that’s pretty good for a few hours of playing around with chatGPT.

After edits, I’ll format the manuscript and put the finishing touches on the cover design from Midjourney.

Then, we upload to Amazon!
