How’s your weekend going so far?

I spent the morning watching the gold medal match for women’s footy. I was all in for Brazil and Marta getting her first gold, but alas, the USA took it.

And I’m thinking it’s time for a short update on my AI fiction book experiment.

But first, I’ve got another sponsor today. So, give ‘em a click to check out their offer and get entered to win ALL the ads earnings for the month.

I’ve Started Reading/Editing My ChatGPT Manuscript

If this is your first time here, I’ve used chatGPT to write out an entire fiction novella. It’s a bit over 13,000 direct from chatGPT.

This week I’ve spent a bit of time reading through it to see how terrible it is and how much editing needs to be done to make it ready to publish.

The niche is Horror, so I want to get it up on Amazon in time for the Halloween horror book rush.

And honestly, I’m surprised by what I’m reading cause it’s not terrible.

Here’s how the prologue starts -

Nestled in the heart of a dense, seemingly endless forest, the town of Blackwood Falls stood as a quiet, unassuming haven, a place where generations had lived out their lives in relative peace, immersed in the comforting rhythms of small-town existence. Yet, beneath the picturesque façade, an unsettling undercurrent ran deep, a whispered secret casting its malevolent shadow over the idyllic lives of the townspeople.

Not as bad as you expected, right? Me neither.

As I’ve been reading through this, I don’t think I’ll need to be making as many edits as expected.

Some of the dialogue is a bit basic and can be improved. But I’m not seeing a lot of telltale AI-speak in this.

As for the specifics of content creation, I just used basic chatGPT, not chatGPT plus, so whatever model that is.

I popped the first few paragraphs into some different AI content detectors and got between 67% and 100% as the “likely AI” scores. So, I guess one thing I will be doing is working to humanize the text a bit.

But I think that won’t be too challenging. Just gotta figure out if I want to use a tool for it and just wing it and see what happens.

I say all this assuming that Amazon has their own AI checker when you upload the file.

I know they ask if you used AI, but I’m not yet sure if they penalize you in any way for saying yes.

Have you published any AI books on Amazon with success?

Have a great rest of your weekend,

Shawna
