I keep thinking today is Saturday, so that’s where I’m at.

I’ve also been spending some time trying to learn more about cold emailing, since I’m getting back into doing that for the local newsletter. It’s actually been pretty interesting and I’m seeing ways I can use it with some other online businesses that I run.

Maybe once I learn more about it and get some more experience with it, I’ll share some of what I’ve learned.

Though today I’ve got to share how my editing is going with the chatGPT fiction book.

What Have I Gotten Myself Into?!

If you recall, in my last update on this experiment I was surprised by how decent the writing was….in the Prologue.

Things were going so well with those first few chapters….

Well, I’m now roughly halfway through the manuscript - remember, chatGPT wrote ALL of this after giving me an outline and idea for it.

So far, I’ve have two chapters that were almost 100% duplicated into new chapters.

In one of the chapters, it seemed to skip some of the story after the first chapter. No big deal, I thought, I’ll just ask Claude to fill in the part that seems missing.

That worked well enough, until…

I got to the end of that chapter and, voila, there were the missing paragraphs!

wtf?

Needless to say, this is a disaster. And I have zero experience writing fiction. Honestly, I should’ve expected this to happen.

The main character has now “delved” into pretty much everything in town.

And did I mention that chatGPT apparently just changed the fucking storyline after a few chapters?!?!

But, I’m sticking with this challenge and will make it through to the end. Though, I worry about how short this novella will be since it started out at only just over 13,000 words and I’ve had to delete a lot of duplicate stuff.

Regardless, I at least hope you’re finding this little experiment a fun one.

Beehiiv Ads Earnings Update

I still think we’re on track for the August winnings to cross $400 and honestly, I expect it to be over $500 based on current forecasting.
