☄️ Email Spam Incoming...

If you’re like most people, you find yourself signed up for email newsletters that you never actually signed up for.

Sometimes this is the result of your email being on a list that was bought.

And sometimes it’s an intentional action by a shady email newsletter operator.

And I think it’s going to be worse this entire month.

Incentives Bring Out The Worst

This email newsletter runs on Beehiiv. And one of the ways you can make money from your newsletter is called Beehiiv Boosts.

These Boosts are other newsletters on Beehiiv who are paying newsletter owners to recommend their newsletter at signup.

Does that make sense?

Here’s an example - you enter your email address on my Beehiiv sign up page and, if I have any Boosts setup, you’ll see a list of recommended newsletters after you click “Subscribe.”

And, if you opt-in to any of those newsletters, then I get paid for each one.

Personally, I’m not a fan of this as a monetization option because the approval rate for valid subscribers is TERRIBLE, so it’s not worth my time for the most part. But I should probably do it more since that’s be more money to give away.

Anyways, why am I bringing this up now?

Because for the entire month of February, Beehiiv is doubling the amount newsletter owners earn from monetizing with Boosts.

That’s right, the morally bankrupt newsletter operators out there will see that as an invitation to opt-in loads of people to newsletters that they never signed up for.

Just wanted to give you this heads up.
