Facebook and Pinterest Alternative Traffic Project Update

Can’t remember the last time we talked about this, but it’s definitely time for an update.

Page likes have just crossed 8,100, which means that I’m getting really close to turning off the Likes ad campaign (once it reaches 10K).

I’m using Post Planner for quick and easy post scheduling and I love it.

My likes are still coming it at $0.04, which I’m happy with.

This page also got into the Facebook bonus program and yesterday was the end of the first 30 days.

Not getting rich anytime soon from that! Worst part is that payout is $5 minimum.

Cracking the bonus program is a tough one and I’m reading everything I can find about it to see if I can turn it into something bigger.

As for Pinterest, I’ve neglected it a bit and that means new pins have not been going out every day.

Traffic is still climbing nicely though. But that’s not surprising since new content is based on what people are actively looking for on the site.

Despite me dropping the ball with new pins, I’m still quite pleased with how things are going in terms of traffic leaking to my site.

This is a really popular niche on Pinterest, so I expect big things from this effort…if I can get back to pinning regularly.

And remember, the reason the Pinterest traffic doesn’t match up with the Pinterest analytics is that some of that traffic ends up under “direct” in analytics.

Week 10 of Newsletter Life Starts Now

Today marks week #10 of doing a local newsletter on Beehiiv.

We’re currently just a few subscribers over 2,100, which means we’re still gaining new subs at a decent pace.

In terms of monetization, the local newsletter is still at zero revenue, except for the tiny amount that came in from Beehiiv Boosts.

I’d obviously like to be earning by now, but not worried about the lack of revenue yet.

Thinking about adding on a paid “premium” tier to the newsletter that’s just a “support local journalism” thing for a few bucks a month. Seen other local newsletters doing this but not sure it converts.

This week we’re also thinking about making some changes to the newsletter. Changing out a section that takes too long to do and replacing it with something easier.

Time will tell how readers feel about the upcoming changes.

Beehiiv Ads Earnings Update

As mentioned earlier, today’s newsletter has a sponsor and I have several more scheduled through July 15th (so far).

Some of them pay better per click than others. Some have an earnings ceiling. Some do not.

Here’s a look at the earnings so far…

Not sure if you can clearly see that, but the grand total so far is $113.20 though it’s all “awaiting approval.”

Payout is sometime next month.

And 100% of the earnings are going to be randomly given away to a reader who has clicked on the ads.

Not a lot of different people clicking, so your odds are really good right now.

Each newsletter where you click on the ad = one entry for the monies.

I’ll just be pulling the data for everyone who made a click, putting them in a spreadsheet, doing a random sort and then picking a winner with the random number generator.

No idea how much this will end up being each month. Will be fun to watch.
