🚦 Getting Started Selling Local SEO (part 4)

one more thing on pricing

In the last update in this series, we talked about setting your rates for your local SEO services.

And I mentioned how cheap clients are the worst.

Let’s revisit that.

Avoid $500/Month Clients

I recently saw this tweet talking about clients who want to pay $500 a month for SEO services.

These cheap clients are the worst because they always want the moon AND the stars.

A few years ago I had a non-profit come to me saying they could only afford $500 a month for SEO.

I was considering breaking my ā€˜no cheap clients’ rule cause them being a non-profit seemed like a different situation.

The first red flag was what they wanted did not fit with their $500 budget. You can’t rank #1 in a city for addiction keywords on a $500 monthly SEO budget.

lol

But I was still thinking that since they were a non-profit, that I should try to work with them at a discount.

Then, the final red flag was after a couple of weeks of talking through what they wanted and what I could offer….they came back to me with this…

We can really only afford $250 a month, is that okay?

Two weeks of my time wasted. Two weeks of someone not valuing me or my work.

And this non-profit was in the UK so the exchange rate was working in their favor! Yet they still wanted thousands of dollars of SEO service for only $250 a month.

People like this will take advantage of you, if you let them. They will then complain about not getting more from you.

Don’t put yourself in this situation.
