🕵️‍♀️ Hidden AI Fingerprints

So, here’s a weird story…I wrote this yesterday and sent it…but Beehiiv crapped out and didn’t send 🤬 Likely because they made updates to their platform during that period and their updates always break shit. Anyways…

Are you using chatGPT to write content? Any content?

Turns out you just might be leaving a digital fingerprint in that content.

And you probably don’t even know it….or see it!

Narrow No-Break Spaces (U+202F)

While I’d love to take credit for this discovery, I actually found out about it on Twitter.

So, you can click on the screenshot above to read the full thread.

But the short version is that you should start putting your AI content into something like Notepad++ (a code editor) so that you can see the REAL raw output from chatGPT.

And if you do that, you just might discover that some spacing in the content is really a hidden unicode character thingie.

It will look something like: <0x202f>

Delete that and use a regular space and you should be fine.

For more than a year I’ve been using an online tool called Convert AI to Plain Text…but the URL now redirects to MS Word to Plain Text. I assume it works the same?

And I have no idea if that tool actually removes the hidden unicode stuff or not. It’s just what I’ve been in the habit of using.
