☕ I'm A Coffee Snob

thoughts on new starting new sites

How’s your weekend going?

Since this is the first day it’s not going to be 100+ degrees in Vegas since May, I got up early to walk around Springs Preserve.

If you’re ever in Vegas, you should at least go to the cafe there because you get a great view of The Strip. It’s a pretty cool place overall.

But the cafe there has TERRIBLE coffee.

I’m super picky about coffee, kinda like how I am when it comes to starting new sites these days.

But first, I’ve got another sponsor today. So, give ‘em a click to check out their offer and get entered to win ALL the ads earnings for the month.

PayPal, Disney, and Nike all dropped 50-80% recently from all-time highs.

Are they undervalued? Can they turn around? What’s next? You don’t have time to track every stock, but should you be forced to miss all the best opportunities?

That’s why we scour hundreds of value stock ideas for you. Whenever we find something interesting, we send it straight to your inbox.

I Hate Fruity Coffee…

But give me almonds, cocoa, caramel or the like in my roast and I am a happy coffee drinker.

The worst for me is when I get a drink made with an espresso that has citrus notes.

wtf am I supposed to do with that?

I asked myself the same question when a pickleball site that I have got smashed by HCU.

I don’t play pickleball. I just knew it was a niche that I could rank in and the people spend good money in, so I did a site on it a few years back.

These days, I won’t start a site unless I also plan on growing things like a newsletter or a community or a YouTube channel around it.

I also want a good niche for digital products or POD products.

When my pickleball site got smashed, I felt the same way as I do about fruity coffee - wtf am I supposed to do with this now?

I don’t know the niche. No one in my life plays it. And I have zero interest in it.

Sure, I could research things like t-shirt designs and maybe create a POD store to go with it, but is that something I really want to do?

Well, I actually think a brick and mortar store selling things like shoes, paddles, bags, etc could do really well in some areas - but I still have zero interest in pickleball.

So, I just moved all my content to a general sports site that I have in case that site ever recovers (it has not).

The truth is that I’m a LOT more picky these days when it comes to starting sites (and I’m still starting plenty of them!).

When people email me about my thoughts on starting sites, I always tell them the same thing -

HCU has sort of rewired my brain so that when I approach a niche my first thought is - what kind of digital products can I sell here?

And I immediately go to Etsy to see what kinds of products are for sale and look to see if those things are actually selling.

I also consider the POD angle. Can I sell something like t-shirts, coffee mugs, etc. to this audience? (Or even Kindle books.) And can I do the designs myself or get them on the cheap?

If at least one of those things is a ‘yes’ then I move on to my other criteria - are there other ways to reach this audience?

Meaning, can I get to them on Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube or Reddit?

If yes, am I able to build up a community? Meaning are people passionate about this topic?

Can I grow a newsletter here? A YouTube channel? A membership program? A community (Skool)?

If yes, THEN I am ready to jump into that niche.

I’m still starting new sites. I just can’t start as many at once as I used to because I also start building out the other things (Facebook, newsletter, POD store, etc) at the same time.

Before, ranking was so easy that I didn’t have to even worry about all the other stuff at the same time…since I was throwing up multiple sites at a time.

What about you?

Stay awesome,
