Let’s talk about doing niche sites as ecommerce sites with Shopify and Printful.

And I’ll give you an update on newsletter life.

We also removed some services, like DFY Niche Sites cause that model just doesn’t make sense for people these days. Instead, we’re offering DFY eCommerce site builds with Shopify.

That’s how I’m building new niches sites with success, though I’m building primarily on WordPress using the Shopify Starter plan to embed products on the homepage and product pages (if you want that type of build, just let us know!).

Speaking of ecomm sites, here’s exactly what I’m doing with new sites…

eCommerce with Shopify & Printful for POD stuff

I think we all know that creating niche sites in the old way is essentially dead for the most part.

Local and ecommerce sites are where it’s at if you want to sneak in a niche site in the SERPs.

I’ve done both with success in recent months, but today we’re talking about taking the ecomm path.

Sure, you can go with a full-on Shopify store and use their blog feature, though that’s not the best setup if you’re really trying to do a niche site here.

Hey, that works as well! I even have one of those sites ranking.

But I find what works best, mostly cause it’s cheaper, is creating a WordPress site along with a Shopify store on their $5/month Starter plan and then embedding the products on the homepage.

Essentially you end up with a site that appears to be an ecomm site but is actually a niche site.

To really sell this, you also need to build out product pages and embed those Shopify product links on those pages as well. It’s all part of the con.

And yes, I said con, because that’s what we have to do with Google these days.

Anyways, I’m using Printful with Shopify for POD products. The exact products I sell really depend on the niche.

For a coffee site, I’m selling mugs and t-shirts.

The best part? You don’t have to pay for designs really.

Get yourself a Freepik Premium subscription cause their terms say you can use a premium design in up to 10,000 products (last time I checked) without having to buy another license.

And who is going to sell more than 10,000 t-shirts?

Find a good design, like this one, remove the background and put it on a t-shirt.

Bonus - you may even end up selling some of these things and have a new revenue stream.

Or, take it seriously and run some Instagram/Facebook ads to promote your products and really bring in some coin.

Pair that with a Facebook page that you’re growing with a Likes campaign and you can sell the stuff to that audience directly on the page.

This is my exact process and it feels good to see those random t-shirt, cups, and posters selling and growing a new revenue stream.

Hell, if any of my Shopify stores end up doing big business I’m going to eliminate the middle man and start making the products myself cause I already own a Cricut machine.

Anyways…

Week 7 of Newsletter Life Starts Now

Today marks week #7 of doing a local newsletter on Beehiiv.

We’re currently just two subscribers away from 1,500 - a slight slow down in our trending daily average of new subs.

Thanks rising ad campaign costs!

And the recent ad creative I was trying isn’t getting the results I want, so I’ve started up a completely new one to test. If you’re in my private forum, then you can see the actual new ad creative (and my total expenses so far).

That means for the next few days I’ll have three ads running at $10/day each.

In terms of monetization, I didn’t get a chance to reach out to any businesses last week and I’d kinda decided to just wait until we hit 5,000 subscribers.

Then a few days ago I saw on a guy on Twitter building a local newsletter in Canada who got two sponsors at just under 2,000 subscribers.

He did it by going to farmer’s markets and soliciting in-person leads. So, I’ll be doing that later this week…if the above normal Vegas heat doesn’t kill me 🥵

I’m still trying out Boosts in Beehiiv to earn a teensy amount for the newsletter. Here’s how that’s going so far -

lol, not getting rich from that anytime soon.
