šŸŠ Is The Juice Worth The Squeeze?

Howā€™s your weekend going? I intended to write back those of you who I owe an email reply, but time has been lacking for me. (sorry!)

Iā€™ve had a surprisingly full weekend, which is one of those good/bad things.

And that sparked some thoughts for me.

More on that in a moment.

A Story, Then Some Thoughts

Thereā€™s an area near me called Sun City, which is basically a fancy ass neighborhood for old rich people (okay, so itā€™s a 55+ community). Itā€™s a bunch of houses with a golf course, some restaurants, and a theater.

This is the type of place where people drive around in golf carts.

Anyways, last night this theater had a concert that I went to. And this the was first time I was seeing anything in this theater. Honestly, I was surprised it was open to every one.

And I didnā€™t know what to expect. It started at 6pm, which is crazy, but old people, right?

So, we get there and as expected, itā€™s mostly people that have a full head of gray hair (if they have any at all). Every single bathroom stall has those handicap rails.

Itā€™s a nice looking theater, but the general smell is stale farts.

Seats are comfortable (probably cause they were designed for people who need comfort from their achy bods). Acoustics are good.

Butā€¦I soon learn why the smell was stale farts.

The old people were blowing it up the entire fucking show.

You know how when you go a really smokey bar or club thereā€™s like this cloud of smoke just hanging in the air? Iā€™m surprised this theater didnā€™t look like that, but with farts.

What I failed to take into account before going to this show is the one thing that most retired people seem to have going on - hearing loss.

Are you familiar with Bobā€™s Burgers? Specifically Lindaā€™s parents?

Cause Iā€™m fairly certain the human equivalent of those two characters were sitting right behind us.

The woman was incredibly loud, probably cause she was used to talking to the dude, who kept asking ā€œwhatā€™d she say?ā€ during the show.

What an experience, eh?

We had to put up with some weird shit, but the show itself was great.

But that got me thinking.

Itā€™s the same with doing whatever it is you end up doing trying to make money online.

Income from sites can be great, but you gotta put up with Googleā€™s shit. And itā€™s the same with everything else, from making a living selling ebooks on Amazon to doing client SEO.

But most of the time, the juice is worth the squeeze, right?

Though, these days itā€™s not as true as it used to be for sites but if youā€™ve got other traffic streams then it is.

Currently, I flip flop on this with the local newsletter.

Iā€™ve told you recently how Iā€™m not happy with the teensy revenue, but later this week weā€™re going to one of the Vegas casinos for a restaurant event that is 100% free cause we were invited as press.

The free food, drinks, and entertainment that comes with local newsletter life is definitely worth the squeeze. We got to do a fancy chocolate tasting last week.

But the real question, when starting anything new, is how do you know if the juice is worth the squeeze?

I donā€™t think you can know. Itā€™s just a leap of faith kinda thing.

It takes a lot to make those leaps, as evidenced by most people getting a day job that they never leave.

Sometimes itā€™s scary, sometimes it reeks of old farts, and sometimes it ends up being amazing.

I hope you keep making those leaps, cause I plan on it. (but I hope for fewer farts in the future)
