š° Is The Moat Deep Enough?
what I'm thinking about
Whenever Iām prepping to start a new business, thereās one thing I always think about - can I build a moat to keep the competition at bay?
In recent years, itās been about more than competition though.
Now I also think about platform risk and owned audience/traffic.
But today Iām thinking about other external factors.

Amazonās not broken. But your mix might be.
If your Amazon growth is slowing while spend climbs, itās not the platformāitās the strategy.
Brands like HyperIce, Caraway, and Goli are shifting to affiliate marketing that drives external traffic and only costs money when it converts.
See what kind of revenue lift this could mean for you.

Can You Really Be Prepared?
A couple of days ago I mentioned that Iām going to be launching a new ecommerce brand with a focus on POD products. (Hoping to have that live with ads running by the weekend!)
Today I saw an ecom store owner making a plea on Twitter to every White House-adjacent person he could find.
He said removing the insanely low delivery (freight?) costs of getting stuff from China to the US badly affected his business. And now the redonk tariffs for China are going to be the final nail in the coffin for this guy.
Iāll be using Printful and it ships out of Texasā¦but I assume the raw products are sourced in China.
So, thereās a risk of that affecting me and I can try to be prepared for it, but how prepared can I really be?
I think the answer for this specific scenario is that ecomm stores might just get fucked. But thatās only if your sales are primarily in the USA, right?
So, to prepare means having a plan in place to sell to other countries.
Sure other countries buy less shit than Americans, which is why everyone and their dog targets Americans. But people in other countries do buy stuff.
Keep that in mind if youāre doing ecommerce sites.
Coming upā¦
More on what Iām working on and how itās going.

Stay awesome,
Shawna
