šŸ“¬ Local Newsletter Strategy Update

showing promise

The last time I talked about my local newsletter, I told you how I was shifting my strategy.

My new game plan was to focus on growing the site with relevant local topics on the blog.

Get those blog posts ranking, and then hopefully gain some organic subscribers.

Itā€™s been a few weeks, so thatā€™s worth checking in on.

How Itā€™s Going

Since Iā€™ve been busy with other things, I didnā€™t get that many new blog posts live on the site as Iā€™d hoped.

But, I did get some up and thatā€™s whatā€™s important.

Know whatā€™s even more important?

Saw some new subscribers that came from the website.

Boom!

Iā€™m hoping that people who find us that way will end up being higher quality subscribers.

Cause let me tell you, the leads that came from the Facebook ads are a pile of šŸ’©

The entitlement is insane. If we miss an event that they learn about later, then they let us know how angry they areā€¦.when this is a free local newsletter.

Honestly, if I could do it all over again, I would not start a local newsletter targeting Vegas locals. Iā€™d pick another city that Iā€™ve lived in with less shitty demographics.

Hindsight, eh?

Okay, itā€™s not all been bad. Iā€™ve actually learned more about where I live thanks to all the research, and discovered some cool stuff.

Like I already knew about the art galleries in our local libraries here. But what I didnā€™t know is that when the exhibits change, they have free open-to-the public events for the opening of the new exhibitsā€¦which includes free snacks and drinksā€¦including booze.

So, if youā€™re ever visiting Vegas, check the Clark County Library website to see if any of the library locations are doing a gallery opening. Sure, youā€™d have the Uber cost but I bet you come out ahead if you eat/drink enough. Plus, art.

Coming upā€¦

More on what Iā€™m working on and how itā€™s going.

Stay awesome,

Shawna
