Saving Money or Saving Time

I was talking with an agency owner recently who told me that I’m crazy for using SPP to handle payment and project management for Growth Cupid.

It’s the industry standard, so I was shocked to hear this.

So, I wanted to know why this made me crazy.

And I really only got one new thing to think about.

And all packages now include a custom Pinterest traffic strategy blueprint.

He told me there’s two reasons -

  1. I’m throwing away $129 each month (the monthly fee for it).

  2. Other options allow me to add in a fee to recoup what I lose when someone pays by credit card (those pesky credit card processing fees).

I didn’t realize some options have that fee recoup feature, so I set about to find me a solution.

While 2.9% + $0.30 in credit card processing fees doesn’t sound like much, it is a lot on the higher ticket items that I sell.

He uses Xero to send out invoices, but I want something in WordPress to handle it without me needing to do anything.

Today I’ve been reminded that saving money doesn’t always mean saving time.

Took me a bit to find the best solution, which seems to be WP Simple Pay Pro.

I’ve used it in the past AND it now offers that fee-recoup option. It also allows coupons, which I need.

Signed up for it first thing this morning, after I cancelled SPP before the rebill in a few days.

It’s now 4pm here and I’m still fighting with this damn plugin to get it to work. Clearly their documentation is not complete as I’m getting two different Stripe errors.

I could do just a naked Stripe link and checkout, but that looks so amateur.

Anyways, I’ve lost a fuckload of time today cause it’s literally all I’ve worked on. I should’ve given up on this before lunch.

Cause while saving money is great, it’s just cost me more in lost time. 🤡
