I think you can tell based on this newsletter how earnings can be for newsletters that are monetized by Beehiiv ads.

The real benefit of Beehiiv ads is that they’re easy. You literally just wait for ad opportunities to land in your account.

That’s awesome.

What’s not awesome is how little they pay.

So, unless you build an audience of thousands, I doubt you’ll ever make too much real money with a niche newsletter (or non-niche) that is only monetized by Beehiiv ads (or Kit’s ads…if they ever get outta beta).

That means you need to go into a niche newsletter with a full monetization roadmap.

The niche I’ve chosen today is Music Production.

It’s a passionate audience that is up for trying new technology and tools. And, with one newsletter you could target the entire market - noobs, experienced peeps looking for tips, and advanced peeps just seeing if they can level up even more.

How do you serve a varied audience with one newsletter? Come up with a publishing schedule (and mention it every email you send out so people know). Mondays, you have content for beginners. Tuesdays, you do a product/tool reviews. Wednesdays, you target the mid-level people. And so on…

How do you monetize?

Ads to start while you build out your own products. Affiliate links when relevant.

Start a YouTube channel that focuses on walk-throughs and tutorials (embed these in newsletter on relevant days).

Things to level up to:

• monetized YouTube

• private membership

• courses/other info products

• beats people can use in their mixes

• white label physical products

• POD merch - tshirts, hats

I’m sure there’s a lot more here. I don’t really know all that much about music production to really know where the ceiling is here.

Then, sell it all as a packaged product for big monies.
