🤖 My Honest Thoughts On Content Goblin

I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to start testing AI recipes + Pinterest.

That meant signing up for and testing some new tools.

I feel like you cannot escape people talking about Content Goblin for this very purpose.

I’ve seen the videos of people walking you through the tool. It always looks decent enough and like a real time saver.

Even though you can do this cheaper with something like chatGPT and Ideogram.

Still, I like saving time so I signed up for it this morning.

I’ve Already Cancelled It…

I know, I know, I’m going against the tide here, but let me explain.

The tool is fast, there is no denying that. I can see how using it and doing the bare minimum to humanize it results in lots of ad revenue.

If that’s your jam, then use it. You’ll likely be happy with it. I’d love to hit you with an affiliate link, but I try to only use affiliate links for things actually I use.

While I will use up the rest of my credits in Content Goblin, after creating three listicles and three pins (one for each listicle) I know that it is not for me.

Yes, the time saving is AMAZING.

But the listicle doesn’t put recipes in it, which is what I was hoping for. So, I had to pop over to chatGPT to get that.

Sure, I can use the single recipe generator in Content Goblin and then link the listicle to the individual recipes.

This is actually the best way for time on page and serving up more ads to one person.

But I don’t want to deal with all that. Why? Because as someone who looks up recipes in real life, I fucking hate having to click a million places.

Just show me what I need to know on the same page.

I also was not impressed with the image quality on the lowest level setting (Good-Fast & Efficient). I feel like at a minimum, I would need to use the middle setting (Better-High Quality).

But even then, I got one image that had someone else’s Pinterest handle? Insta handle? and some other wonky text on it.

And none of the images with sweet potatoes in them were that good. We eat a lot of things with sweet potatoes in my house, and they never look like this in the air fryer -

Sure, I could have it create another image … but that’s 10 more credits. I could switch to the highest level (Best-Premium Quality), but that’s 13 credits.

I guess what I’m saying here is that the time saving factor alone, while amazing, isn’t enough to keep me paying for this because the per-image cost is too high for my needs.

Plus, I already pay for both chatGPT and Cuppa.

It’d be a better use of my time and money to just pay $20/month for Ideogram.
