šŸ’” New Ideas

need some?

I had someone reply to a recent newsletter asking how I find new ideas to test and work on.

Often, it’s just by seeking out new information.

Social media is a great place for that.

But so is your YouTube homepage. If you were here for it when I first talked about it, that’s how I fell into the rabbit hole of directory sites.

But what about bigger ideas?

Let Other People Do The Research

I think the best place to see big ideas, or get them, is right here.

But not just that single post.

Glen does regular updates about interesting businesses that can really get the ole gears grinding in your brain.

And here’s what’s interesting - with all the AI tools available these days, you don’t even need to be a coder to spin up something like many of the businesses you see here.

And I love that he covers the newsletter space, but there’s so many other interesting industries and businesses I’ve learned about on his site.

You can also just learn straight up interesting stuff…like the same company owns both WP Rocket and Rank Math. And they made €350M+ last year.

Anyways, the business model that I find most interesting these days is building something simple for a very niched down service-based business audience.

I don’t really have any desire to building something like this, but I find it fascinating. Though I guess it’s not much different than having something like a dental SEO agency.

One thing I do like to do though is find companies like the ones in the screenshot above and then use something like BuiltWith to find all the sites using them.

Why? That’s a goldmine for cold outreach for agency owners like me. Even better when it’s a service that runs/hosts their website.

Coming up…

More on what I’m working on and how it’s going.

Stay awesome,

Shawna

P.S. If you’re looking for high level discussions or tips on things like local SEO and Rank & Rent, I highly recommend Jacky Chou’s Advise community. I’ve been in it for several months and there’s tons of value in it, including a SOP for local SEO.
