šŸš€ Pinterest Math to $5,000

how many pins/articles = $5000?

After I wrote about Pinterest a few days ago, I got an interesting email from a reader.

He wanted to know if using Pinterest to drive traffic to a site monetized with ads is really worth it.

Of course it is!

Me saying that doesnā€™t count for much though, right? So letā€™s dig in a bit here.

Earnings by Traffic Source

Most places you can sign up with to monetize a site with display ads offer a report showing you the earnings by traffic source.

For years, Pinterest and Facebook have had MUCH higher RPMs for me than organic search.

Check out the RPMs differences for this site -

Granted, some of that ā€œdirectā€ traffic is also Pinterest. But still - big difference there.

This means 1,000 pageviews from Pinterest is worth around twice as much as other traffic sources.

Know what that means? Time to put more focus into this site on Pinterest.

But not the spray and pray method.

You should be able to dig into the analytics from your ad company to see the RPM by page for the Pinterest traffic.

Then, just focus on the higher paying niche/topic for your Pinterest efforts.

Hereā€™s a look at the RPM difference on my top pages by Pinterest traffic (for last 30 days) -

As you can see, the post that gets the most traffic has a lower RPM than the page that gets the second most traffic.

Now letā€™s do some conservative math, and letā€™s keep it easy using nice, round numbers -

Letā€™s say you average 100 monthly pageviews per-article from Pinterest traffic. Assuming your RPM is $45, then you make $4.50 each month from each post that gets traffic from Pinterest.

How much can you make in a month?

  • for 100 posts = $450

  • for 500 posts = $2,250

  • for 1,000 posts = $4,500

  • for 5,000 posts = $22,500

Itā€™s a numbers game. This is why Pinterest works and why people are spamming it with loads of daily pins.

(Of course, you can get more than 100 pvs a month for a single pin, so numbers vary for every site/pin.)

What if your niche delivers a lower RPM of $20?

  • for 100 posts = $200

  • for 500 posts = $1,000

  • for 1,000 posts = $2,000

  • for 5,000 posts = $10,000

And if youā€™re stuck on Ezoic with $3 RPMs? That $0.30 per-pin each month is gonna kill you, so get the fuck on a better paying ads platform.

So, your plan with Pinterest should be to first, determine what your income goal is.

Then, just get started so that you get some data on the RPMs for your niche.

Once youā€™ve got that, itā€™s just a matter of working backs to see how many posts/pins at that RPM you need to reach that goal.

Letā€™s say my Pinterest goal for the $47.68 pin niche was $5,000. At $4.77 per-pin each month, Iā€™d need ~1,050 pins/posts if each post got 100 monthly pvs at $47.68 RPM.

With AI, this is easily doable with only around $100 investment.

Whatcha waiting for? And wtf am I waiting for? I should totally try to duplicate that high paying post x1000 to see what happens.
