I’d been at my desk a couple of hours this morning, when this landed in my inbox…

I hope you can read that. If not, here’s the important part:

What a start to the day, eh?

Zero specifics. No warning. No chance to respond to whatever it is they have decided is going on with my site.

My favorite part of this email was the bit at the bottom telling me “Your Raptive dashboard will close down at the end of the day today”…except it was disabled within hours.

Based on the number of self-appointed hall monitors in the Raptive Facebook group calling out every Raptive site they suspect of using AI tools, I can only assume this is the crime I was found guilty of.

Likely the same person that I know has been contacting these ad platforms telling them that ALL of my sites are full AI. Fucking clown.

So, congrats to them for taking down a site that was started before the world was even introduced to chatGPT. Keep up the good work.

Or maybe it was just the big traffic spike my site got for Talk Like A Pirate Day last week that seemed suspicious. I’ll never know.

Of course the real problem here is that ANYONE has the risk of being found guilty of unknown “crimes” like this and losing monetization on a site…without even being given the chance to defend yourself.

I know a few weeks back this happened to someone on Mediavine. And yes, the site owner in question seemed to be the infamous king of AI content. BUT - he also appears to not have been given a chance to explain himself.

Doesn’t matter if you’re guilty or not.

And yes, I immediately asked for more information but was not even given the courtesy of a reply to that inquiry.

For me, the best part is that when they onboarded this particular site, they told me how much they loved it. lol
