Salvaging A Botched Launch

I recently confessed that I totally botched the launch of this book because I did ZERO promo for it.

Now I’m scrambling to see if I can makeup for that - especially since this book has a bit of a time-factor involved with it being set at Halloween.

Basically, I limited the potential of the book and am trying to fix that.

So, here’s what I’ve done.

Over the weekend, I got up a simple $2/day Facebook ad promoting the book.

My goal with that is to drive people who are paying for Kindle Unlimited to download the book…then I can start stacking up those page reads.

Here’s what the ad looks like:

And here’s how much I’ve spent so far:

So, a pretty cheap cost per click to the book’s page on Amazon. And I can already see that people have been downloading it.

Before running the ad, the overall rank in the Kindle store was in the 428,000 range.

And someone has left a rating, but no review. This seems to happen with people who rate a book once they finish reading on their Kindle.

Here’s how the earnings, sales and KENP reads look right now:

Okay, so in addition to Facebook ads, I have scheduled a paid promo with Freebooksy for the final freebie days that I get with Amazon.

My research tells me that Sundays are the best day for running promos.

With that in mind, I scheduled my freebie days on Amazon for Saturday the 26th, Sunday the 27th and Monday the 28th.

And, I paid for a Freebooksy promo on the 27th.

So, that’s an additional $110 in expenses for this book. And yes, chatGPT wrote that description.

I’ll look to see if there are any cheap promos I can run for the other two days.

And then, we wait to see what happens - can you fix a botched launch? And can you make money AFTER paying a ghostwriter?

Ideally, some people pre-order book #2 and the BSR stays high enough for discovery by readers after the promo days end.
