The $20 Ad Promo Day

Honestly, the worst thing about paying for these promos is that they give you ZERO stats on click-through, opens, etc.

AND, if you’ve run promos the days prior, then you have no way of knowing if your downloads/sales/traffic are from the new promo or the one you ran the day before.

Maybe I’ll start one that’s more transparent. But that’s a topic for another day.

Today I wanna share how day #3 went in terms of downloads, rankings, and other things that happened.

And, I’ll sum up my overall thoughts on how this went.

For the life of me, I could not get signed up for this newsletter to get it actually in my inbox.

But they ended up sending me a link to what it looks like on their website…with the caveat that it updates daily (though today it’s still me).

I was curious if they’d mention it on their Facebook page as they have 10K likes on it…but nope.

Here’s what the total downloads looked like -

So 724 units on Day 3. All in, over the three days, the total number of book downloads was 4,435.

And here’s how the earnings and KU page reads look for the month now -

And what the sales rank looked like this morning when I got up-

So, was this a success? Honestly, I can’t really say for sure.

I was hoping for three things to happen:

1. Get more reviews

2. Sell some pre-orders for book #2 and #3 in the series

3. Continue to see sales/borrows once the promo ends.

I did end up with more reviews…well, mostly ratings, which is annoying since I have no idea why they rated it what they did.

Anyways, Goodreads has two reviews and a decent amount of people reading and wanting to read it -

And Amazon is also mostly ratings, instead of reviews -

If any of you who downloaded it wanna hook me up with 4-star or 5-star reviews that would be awesome.

Now, let’s talk pre-orders for the other two books. You see that 2-star rating on Amazon and maybe are grimacing and thinking this was a disaster…

Some people liked it enough to pre-order. Here’s Book #2 -

So, not a total disaster. And, people paying for Kindle Unlimited could be planning on reading books 2 and 3 through there. And I kinda wonder if the lower rated reviews are because there were no love scenes in the book (cause a lot of popular hockey romances are downright filthy by most people’s standards).

I think it’s really too soon to know if the money I’ve spent will be worth it in the end. But clearly some people like the book, which is promising enough for me to snag another slot with the ghostwriter I used for this series.

I’m actually trying to convince her to work for me so I can offer y’all a package deal with her writing + book covers, editing, and formatting. If you wanna be the first to know if I can make that happen, just reply and I’ll reach out once I know.
