YouTube is something you’re probably still sleeping on

I’ve been talking about YouTube for niche sites since late 2022, and I have a feeling that most of you are still sleeping on this.

Initially, I got into it as a way to both drive new traffic to my niche sites as well as rank in Google for the same keywords I target on the niche sites.

If you have a channel that takes off and qualifies for monetization, then you end with a new revenue stream. You can also sell direct to your audience on YouTube if you have digital products, or even physical products.

These days, sometimes a ranking YouTube video is all I have left for a keyword one of my niches sites was targeting.

And here’s the thing - YouTube is really the easiest way to get a quick ranking in Google right now. Except for maybe with a high authority aged domain.

Those still work like crazy, which is why GoDaddy Auctions prices are even more bananas than they used to be.

Anyways, you don’t need to be on camera for your YouTube channel. But you’ll likely get more traction in terms of growing your audience if you DO appear on camera.

Just know that not wanting to be on camera isn’t a deal breaker here.

Week 9 of Newsletter Life Starts Now

Today marks week #9 of doing a local newsletter on Beehiiv.

We’re currently just a few subscribers over 1,900, which means we’re nearing a good goal post of 2,000 subs.

In terms of monetization, I didn’t get a chance to reach out to any businesses last week but I’ve already sent some emails today.

That means the local newsletter is still at zero revenue, except for the tiny amount that came in from Beehiiv Boosts…which I stopped running cause the payout sucks thanks to a shitty verification process.

Last week we got an email from one of our subscribers asking if we have a newsletter for a nearby area. We don’t, but it was already next on our list of things to do.

So, it’s nice to see that people already want this. We’ve decided to launch it sometime in August and we’ll let our current audience know about it this week in case they want to sign up.

It will be nice to grow subscribers before even launching.
