Owning Subreddits

In recent months, I know that people have been all over Reddit, with some people even making their own subreddits.

This is something that I’ve done for years but I never really thought about how valuable they are when you want to sell the main asset (website, newsletter, etc.).

Anyways, I’m in this Skool community called Digital Asset Marketplace where people are selling a variety of digital assets - not just websites.

It’s a really interesting group so far just in terms of seeing what people are building up and selling.

But there’s one that caught my eye this week and I just wish I had the time to take on a new project.

It’s a personal finance newsletter that comes with a digital product on Gumroad AND a matching subreddit. And it is a GREAT subreddit.

As someone who has been building and flipping websites for what seems like most of my adult life, this really got the ole wheels turning.

For starters, you can just focus on building up new subreddits and then flip those puppies to people already in those niches with websites, newsletters, and other digital assets.

I also really like the idea of the newsletter + subreddit asset package.

The more I thought about this, I realized that you could also include Facebook pages, groups and other communities - at least in niches where that works.

While I hate that “easy mode” is no longer available in terms of build a niche site and flip it for 40x, I do like expanding my horizons with all these exciting new models.

Need Some Ideas?

I don’t know about you, but I have a list on my phone (in Evernote) titled “biz ideas” that I add to whenever something interesting pops into my head.

So, while I don’t need any new ideas, I stumbled across a Youtube channel by a guy who runs this Startup Ideas Podcast and it’s pretty awesome.

Listening to these episodes gives me ideas on how I can level up some of the ideas that I already have.

If you’re in need of some new ideas, I highly recommend it. Or, if you just want to hear some people brainstorming ideas to help you with your own ideas, I think it’s a good place to start.

And if you’re in the newsletters niche, then I suggest you check out Duuce to see newsletters that are for sale and that have already sold.

It’s also good for brainstorming and expanding on what you’re already doing.
