🤨 Taking YouTube Seriously...Again

Before we get into it today, shoutout to Claudine for responding to yesterday’s email with this link from Pinterest support. It’s got more info on that Visit button removal issue.

Now, for today’s topic - we’re talking about YouTube.

You probably already know that I have a YouTube course and I’ve been doing faceless YouTube channels for a bit. Those have mostly been with partners, so can’t share many deets on that.

And I keep saying I’m gonna be serious about my personal channel…and then I never am.

But this time is different.

A Bit Of Motivation

To get back into doing videos for my personal channel, I started publishing on the Mediavine Journey drama.

I published two videos on that. And then one as a follow-up to an older Beehiiv ads income report.

So that was three videos in three weeks. Then I went and did some traveling.

I intended to find time to record during those periods.

I did not.

But still, the results from those three weeks of consistency were quite motivating -

So, being consistent for three weeks resulted in almost 150 new subs.

Sure, the subject matter was partly responsible for that. And I got lucky that no one else on YouTube was talking about it at the time.

That means I can’t expect to see the same results with other videos.

Even so, I’m committing to growing this channel and talking about it here.

I’ll be doing at least one new video each week on my personal channel. Go on and subscribe if you haven’t already done so.

Then reply to this email and let me know if there’s a video topic you want to see from me. If it seems doable, then I’ll add it to my list.

Now, let’s talk goals -

One video per week through the end of the year.

Looks like we’ve got 39 weeks left in the year, so that means 39 more videos.

I also want to reach monetization by year’s end just as an accomplishment to check off. I don’t expect this to turn into a big revenue stream, so it’s purely for the goal accomplishment.

For revenue, I’d like to use the channel to grow my email subscriber list and get new business for Growth Cupid and the new local SEO service I’m launching soon. Can’t really make this a SMART goal though cause I don’t really know what I’m aiming for yet.

Of course, I’ll have to do videos on relevant topics….which I don’t really have right now. Though I could do videos for the Growth Cupid channel separately…but then I’d be working on two channels at once and that may be too much.

But it might be the better way to get new clients?

Anyways, just stream of conscious writing this out as I literally just made this decision before sitting down to write to you today.

I’m also starting a new faceless channel with my wife, but not sure how much I’ll be sharing about that one for a bit.

And I think this will be a good way for me to make updates to my YouTube course as well since I’ll be testing new things.
