🤡 The Mediavine Hypocrisy

For a while now, I’ve been watching with interest how Mediavine is “handling” AI content.

And by “handling,” I mean accusing site owners of AI content and de-monetizing them with no recourse…and being on a crusade to stop AI sites of getting monetized anywhere.

And that’s why I’ve been checking a site that was listed for sale last week and then quietly removed from the brokerage site.

More on that in a moment.

What Not To Do

If you’re selling a site that uses chatGPT to write the content, and you’re monetized on a platform that has gone on a full angry-mob-with-pitchforks-crusade against AI content, maybe don’t list your site for sale with a brokerage that makes all your shit public.

And especially don’t do that if you’re on Mediavine Pro, and your site has a listing price of almost a million dollars.

This should be common sense, right?

Just goes to show that you don’t have to be smart to make money.

I should take a moment to point out that I am all for AI content that it is good. And I think it’s despicable that Mediavine is going after site owners who use AI content and/or images on their site.

That being said, I do think all the people Mediavine has removed from monetization for using AI would like to have a word with this site owner…..who is STILL running Mediavine ads on the site.

So, this site - it went out in a standalone email from Motion Invest 7 days ago and it looked like this -

Don’t bother looking for it, cause they took the listing down and now it’s a 404 page.

They also tweeted about the new listing, which is still there.

The Keywordian guy did a break down of the site where he pulled a screenshot from the seller questions where the seller said content came from chatGPT. (he deleted the thread)

If I had a site on Mediavine that had gotten removed for AI usage, then I think I’d be pretty pissed off right now.

Cause it seems like the people on Mediavine Pro are not getting the same rules applied as everyone else.
