Using AI To Write Ebooks For Amazon’s KDP

I’ve talked about books and publishing on Amazon a few times already, but I continue to get questions about the actual writing of the books.

Let me start by saying that in my experience, you can use AI for non-fiction books but it’s not a great idea for fiction.

You see, with non-fiction there is bound to be tons of blog posts out there on your topic that AI has trained on.

Let’s say you want to write a book on some psychology topic. Well, the AI more than likely trained on authoritative sites like Psychology Today.

And that means you’ll end up with AI content that works for ebooks.

Also with non-fiction, it’s normal for books to be shorter in length than your average fiction book. And that’s great since chatGPT likes to deliver short replies to your queries.

I’ve also had requests to explain what I mean by “non-fiction.” I can only assume this is due to some of you not really knowing the variety of topics you can cover with non-fiction.

While you can browse the non-fiction categories on Amazon or any online bookstore, here’s some non-fiction niche ideas for you -

• cookbooks

• history

• informational guides on pretty much anything (see the ‘For Dummies’ series)

• politics

• natural health (is that what it’s called?) - things like alternative natural remedies

• survival - things like everything you can eat in the wild, etc.

And this is just me scratching the surface of what you can do.

So, spend some time on Amazon seeing what others are doing. Or, just get on the email list of this guy and wait to see what hot niches he sends you.

The last person I sent that link to told me they had to dig around the site to find the email list sign up, so know that in advance.

I also had someone challenge me to TRY writing a fiction book with AI - and I think I will accept that challenge because I think it will be a flop.

I’ve never published any fiction books, so we’ll see how this goes. I’ll use chatGPT for the book content and I’ll use Midjourney for the cover image.

But since chatGPT does short content, I first need to identify a fiction niche where it’s normal to have short books.

I’ll keep you updated on how this goes.

Okay, so I’ve got the final total for the ads earnings for July that I’m giving away.

And this is my first time earning from Beehiiv ads for any of my Beehiiv newsletters. So, I learned that they don’t just automatically pay you.

Instead, it goes into your online “wallet” and you have to request payout.

So, I’ve done that …. the extra monies you see in the screenshot is the paltry amount this newsletter has earned from Boosts. Final total for the winner is the $217.20.

It hit my bank account yesterday.
