How’s Your Pinterest Traffic This Month?

So, lately I seem to have so much going on that I don’t have time to keep up with the Pinterest stats for my sites.

My Pinterest workflow is like this -

Batch my work so that I get a fuckload of pins scheduled at once.

Don’t come back to Pinterest until the reminder I set pops up on my phone telling me that my scheduled pins run out in a few days.

So, I admit that I haven’t even looked at my Pinterest analytics until yesterday.

Before that? Maybe a month ago? Or longer? I really have no idea.

Anyways, yesterday I was scrolling through Facebook and noticed in more than one group people were complaining about Pinterest metrics being down.

And when I see something like that in more than one place, it makes me stop and take a look to determine if it’s a widespread issue or not.

The consensus seems to be that pin impressions are down. One theory is that it’s a result of Pinterest going ad-heavy for December.

Another theory is that Pinterest no longer wants to promote old URLs.

I dunno if I believe that one though, do you?

Here’s one of my personal sites -

I haven’t created new content for this site in MONTHS, so all the pins are old URLs.

I’m pinning 30 pins each day with it.

So, I think if people are seeing something wonky with Pinterest, then there’s more to it than just a Pinterest change.

One thing that I do with my sites is use Pinterest Trends to come up with content ideas. The site in the screenshot above hasn’t had new content in a while, but the last new content was based on Pinterest Trends data.

So, if you’re having problems with Pinterest, rethink how you’re creating content so that you focus on things that you KNOW will work.

And keep up that daily pinning consistency!
